Visitors will be able to see a facility that uses microbes to decompose garbage collected on the expo site. The plant will also produce biogas used for generating the pavilion's electricity. Many figures of the Hello Kitty character adorn the building's interior. Each is in a costume representing one of 32 different types of algae. This promotes the organism as a substance that can be used for fuel and help address food shortages around the world. The expo is scheduled to run for six months from April 13 through October 13.
