He said it so casually that it took the edge off my anx-
iety. I went through the entirely new sensation that this
was not a pain like a toothache ； at times it seemed
to screw itself into your very bones. These pains seem-
ed to come in regular intervals like breakers at the sea-
shore.

襲ってくるような気がしました．
