corn and barley and wheat squareed out of the yellow mustard.
Every ten miles along the traveled routes a general store and
blacksmith shop happened, and these became the nuclei of
little towns,*  Bradly, King City, Greenfield.

 馬車の轍が足跡に取って代わった．黄色かったカラシ畑からは
トウモロコシ畑と大麦畑が新たに区画された． 街道に沿って、
１０マイル毎に、よろず屋と鍛冶屋が立った．そしてこれら
の場所が町の中核となり、ブラドレー、キングシティ、グリー
ンフィールドとなった．
