On the uplands the grass would be strewn with buttercups,
with hen-and-chickens,  with black-centered yellow violets.
And a little later in the season there would be red and yellow
stands of Indian paint-brush.   There were the flowers of the
open places exposed to the sun*.

すみれなどの植物がちりばめられている。その季節の
終わりごろになると、カステラソウが赤と黄色の席を
作り出す。これらは日の光を浴びる広々とした野原に
