The servant lifted me up, turned my face to the master
and said "This little stray kitten is being a nuisance.
I keep putting it out and it keeps crawling back into the kitchen."
〇 女中はボクを持ち上げて、ボクの顔を回して、ご主人の
方へ向けた。
「このチビの捨てネコが邪魔をするんです。
私が外へ出しても、また台所に入って来るものですから。」
The master briefly studied my face, twisting the black
hairs under his nostrils.
〇 主人は、自分の鼻の孔の下の黒ひげをひねりながら、
ざっとボクの顔を点検した。
Then "In that case, let it stay," he said; and
went inside.
〇 それから、「そういうことなら、置いてやれ。」そう言って
中に入っていった。
