【行くで～】
堀川通りを北へ。
ドンカさん ： How many people live in Kyoto ?
京都、何人住んではりまんのん？
ゴタ ： 1 million 4 hundred thousand
people are now living in the city.
But recent administration's division moved the
number up to 1 million 5 hundred.
Some towns were jointed
some were divided some came from
an adjacent prefecture
１４０万人住んでますで。 けど、最近、町村合併があって
今、京都は、１５０万人になってますわ。
近隣の県からの組入れたら、何やらがありましたさかい。
ビタンさん ： What is the Kyoto's place
of all cities in Japan ?
京都って、ほな、
何番目の都市ですねんや？
ゴタ ： Well, Kyoto comes 7.
The first place is of course
Tokyo with more than 8 million.
Second comes Yokohama,
Osaka is 3rd. The 4th・・Nagoya.
The fifth, Sapporo・・The 6th ・・・・
Sorry I forgot. And Kyoto comes 7 place.
えーと、７番目ですね。
第一位がもちろん東京。８００万以上です。
二位が、横浜。三位、大阪。四位、名古屋。
五位、札幌。六位・・・忘れた。すんません。
７位が京都です。

ルさん ： Maybe it's Kobe.
神戸だろ。
「わかりません。」
とお答えしたのですが、今、調べて、
神戸だとわかりました。
神戸が第６位でした。
【二条城へ】
JTBのウォーキングツアーと同じコース・・・
かどうかは、知らないが、
とりあえず、やって来たのは、
ここ、二条城です。
ここに、来るときには、必ず、関ヶ原の合戦を、
かい摘んで、話しておきます。
こんな感じ。(再現は、実際の発話は
しっかり覚えていないので、異なっています。）
山田： After Hideyoshi's death
Japan had been divided into two groups;
One was led by Mitsunari Ishida,
faithful vassal to Hideyoshi,
and the other led by Ieyasu Tokugawa,
one -time co-worker with Hideyoshi.
秀吉の死後、日本は二分されます。
一方は、秀吉の忠臣、石田三成。
他方は、曾ての同僚、徳川家康のグループ。
Ieyasu Tokugawa was taciturn,
but secretly aimed at the top position of
samurai warrior, "Tenka"
or the supreme ruler.
徳川家康は、口数は少なく、心密かに、
武士の頂点（天下）を狙っていました。
These two groups were at last crushed
in middle Japan called Sekigahara field.
This is the Sekigahara's battle
occurred in 1600.
この２つのグループが中部日本で、激突します。
これが１６００年の関ヶ原の合戦です。
The battle began in the morning with
the signal of a conch horn.
Mitsunari's group hoisted the banner
of west camp team.
合戦は朝、法螺貝の合図とともに始まりました。
石田三成の軍勢は、西軍です。
Ieyasu's group which belonged to
eastern bloc lighted the signal fire
to would-be betryer, Kobayakawa group.
東軍の家康側は、のぼりを炊いて、
小早川軍を裏切らせます。
In the afternoon, the winner group was
Tokugawa team. He then became Shogun.
So he was the first Shogun of
Tokugawa government.
午後、勝利者は、徳川家康の軍となりました。
彼は、将軍になりました。
After 3 years of the battle,
he built the Nijo castle in Kyoto
to take office
and to survey the Imperial Palace.
He need to keep watch so that no one comes
near the emperor.
Even if Shogun has a supreme power,
emperor's order has more effect.
After all
samurai warriors were only retainers
to emperor.
３年後、家康は、京都で政務を取るときのため、
それと、御所の監視のため、二条城を構築します。
家康にとって、他のものが天皇に近づくことは、
放っておけないのです。
将軍といえども、権威は天皇の方にあります。
天皇の勅令の方が、将軍の命令より
効果があるのです。
つまり、武士は本来、天皇の家臣なのですから。
