【 いよいよ、石庭 】
ケリー
さん ： This is the stone garden,
isn't it ?
石庭でっか？ああ、これが。
ゴタ ： Yes, it is. Take your seat
anywhere on the veranda
さよだ。 お座りなはれ。どこなと空いたとこに。
ゴタ、お客様の横で、
小さな声でガイディング。
以前、声が大きいと、
よその観光客から睨まれたことがあるもので。
１５個の石がどこから見ても、１４個。
もう言い飽きた説明も、お客様には、初めて聞く
事柄。丁寧に、そして、小さな声でご説明。
この説明とワンセットでのご説明は、虎の子渡し。
これもセット。たとえば、モーニング
セットは、トーストとコーヒーとゆで卵であるように。
ゴタ ： See ? Each big stone has
its smaller ones next to it.
This sometimes is likened to a mother tiger
with her children around her.
According to old Chinese legend,
if a mother tiger has three baby tigers,
one of them is often bad,
bad enough to bite other
brothers when its mother is absent.
So when the tiger family cross a river,
the mother tiger who has three
babies takes the bad one first to the other bank.
And she returns by herself.
And then, she picks one of the rest
and takes it to the other side again.
But this time she brings back her
bad baby again to this side.
And next, she takes the rest one, yes,
the good baby to the other side
where its good brother is waiting.
And finally she comes back to fetch
the bad baby to take it over to the
bank over there.
By doing this, the bad baby cannot bite others.
This is how the mother tiger protects
her three babies not to fight each other.
あのね。ほら、大きい石の廻りに、
小さい石が幾つかありますやろ。
これが虎に見立てられますねん。
昔の中国伝説でね。
虎に３人子どもがいれば、
たいてい、その１匹は悪い子で、
お母さんが留守中に、他の兄弟に噛みつくんです。
なもので、この虎一家が、川を渡るときは、
お母さんは、先に、悪い子を渡します。
そして、向こう岸に置いたまま、戻ってきて、
次の子を１匹連れに来ます。
そして、その子も、向こう岸に渡して、
今度は、悪い子をまた、こっちに戻してきます。
次に、よい子の方を、連れて、向こう岸に渡り、
最後に、もう一度、悪い子を連れに戻ります。
まあ、こんな風に母さんトラは
子どもたちをけんかから守るのですよ。
